STEM Academy will be hosting a FIRST Robotics Competition team this year in the STEM High School engineering labs. All STEM High School students are encouraged to sign-up and we will welcome interested students from other high schools as well! To ensure the success of the team we will be holding regular meeting this fall on Tuesday evenings, from 6pm until 8pm. Students will be taught all the skills they need to be an active and productive member of the team. During these meetings, we will assemble and test a complete practice robot. We will continue to test and modify this robot through November and then focus on preparing for the official build season, starting in January. Students completing the fall seasons will have a secure spot on this year's FRC team (Jan - Apr).
This year's STEM FRC team will be coached by Christopher Gray, a certified technology education teacher and veteran robotics team coach with over 10 year of experience. Students will be taught about all aspects of robotics and receive hands-on training from professionals in specific skills related to design, fabrication, and programming. Core values of gracious professionalism, safety, and creativity will be stressed throughout the year. Parents are encouraged to earn their volunteer time by supporting team meetings (technical and non-technical help is welcome). Please contact Sara Honda (firstname.lastname@example.org, 303-683-7836) with any questions.
Meetings start in September.
