STEM School and Academy will be sponsoring multiple 2015 FLL teams (6-8 students per team in Grades 5-8) for the upcoming 2015-16 TRASH TREK Challenge. All students wishing to be part of a competitive team must sign-up for this class, which will span STEM Academy sessions from mid-August through the Regional Qualifying Tournament in November. Students can attend any session, but should try to attend one per week so that they become familiar with the required skills and potential team members.
The student fee includes the following; attendance for all STEM Academy FLL classes (Sept-Nov), FLL Team Registration, 2015 Field Setup Kit, and the 2015 Colorado Regional Tournament Entry fee.
Each team will be required to use the engineering design process to compete in the Robot Game and prepare a Science Project about World Class Challenge, and apply FLL Core Values. Through the Robot Game teams build and program an autonomous robot using LEGO MINDSTORMS technology to score points in 2.5 minute matches on the 2015-16 TRASH TREK Challenge playing field. Through the Science Project, teams explore an actual problem that today’s scientists and engineers are trying to solve, develop an innovative solution to that problem and share their findings with others, and prepare for judging against the FLL Project rubric. Participating individuals must demonstrate both sportsmanship and teamwork in order to be part of an FLL team.
Each team will meet twice a week.
